🏛️Understanding History and Drawing Lessons for the Present

The lecture "The Turkish Tumult of 1683 and Its Lessons for Today's Security Policy Situation" on October 16 at the Fürstenfeld Middle School attracted great interest.

Brigadier DDr. Andreas Stupka, an established military expert and author of numerous military history publications, shed light on the historical significance of the second Turkish siege of 1683 and its effects on the surrounding region.

It became clear: history does not only tell of past battles and political decisions. It also shows how societies deal with threats, fears and uncertainties. Questions that are once again highly relevant today.

The lecture encouraged a better understanding of historical connections and reflection on what insights we can gain from the past for the present and future.

🙏Museum Pfeilburg sincerely thanks Brigadier DDr. Andreas Stupka for this excellent lecture and all guests for their great interest.

The 'Türkenrummel' of 1683 – What History Teaches Us Today

How do historical events shape our understanding of security, conflicts and societal challenges? And what insights can we draw from the past for the present?

The lecture "The Türkenrummel of 1683 and Its Lessons for Today's Security Policy Situation" on 16 October 2026 in Fürstenfeld focuses on the connection between history and current security policy questions.

Historical Events Reflected in the Present

The year 1683 is one of the defining chapters of European history. The conflicts of that time between the Ottoman Empire and the European powers left far-reaching political and social traces.

Brigadier DDr. Andreas Stupka dedicates his lecture to the so-called Türkenrummel of 1683 and the question of what lessons can be drawn from it for today's security policy situation.

The evening invites attendees to view historical developments from a contemporary perspective and to reflect on the significance of history for our Europe today.

    Understanding History – Recognising Connections

Engaging with the past opens up new perspectives on the present. The lecture offers history enthusiasts and all those interested in European developments and security policy an exciting opportunity for historical reflection.

Look forward to an evening that brings history and the present together.
